Former fast bowler RumeshRatnayake has been appointed Sri Lanka's chief cricket coach for the home series against Australia next month.
Rumesh will work as an interim coach until the government-appointed interim committee of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) advertise locally and internationally for a full-time coach.
Ratnayake, who was Man of the Match in Sri Lanka's inaugural Test win against India in 1986, was once hired by the Asian Cricket Council as the bowling coach for South East Asian countries.
Ratnayake's career spanned from 1982 to 1993 during which he picked up 73 wickets in 23 Tests and 76 wickets in 70 One-Day Internationals.
