Sri Lanka have rested left-arm spinner Rangana Herath for the remaining three ODIs against Pakistan. It is believed that Herath needed the rest following a recently done knee operation. The left-arm spinner is expected to be a crucial factor in the Sri Lankan team in the upcoming Test Series against Pakistan.
Herath has been replaced with an uncapped player Sajeewa Weerakoon, who also bowls slow left arm spin. Weerakoon is no youngster though and is already 34 years of age! The 6ft tall Weerakoon was picked in the national team was back in 2005 but somehow missed out making his international debut. From his stats, Sajeewa Weerakoon looks like a veteran with nearly 700 first-class wickets to his name!
Sri Lanka’s revised squad for 3rd, 4th and 5th ODIs at Colombo: Mahela Jayawardene (Captain), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara (Wicket Keeper), Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews, Lahiru Thirimanne, Jeevan Mendis, Thisara Perera, Nuwan Kulasekera, Sachithra Senanayake, Lasith Malinga, Sajeewa Weerakoon, Upul Tharanga, Nuwan Pradeep and Dilhara Fernando
